Welcome and thank you for visiting.
Medicine was a given in my life and a path I always knew I would be destined to pursue. Ever since I was seven and growing up in Brooklyn, NY, I would say I wanted to be a doctor. The combination of not being a genius and being a girl in an ethnic Italian family made most of my family members respond to my assertions with a “Why do you want to be a doctor?” “Just marry one!”
At first I went into medicine thinking I would be a pediatrician. It turned out I loved kids too much to see them sick. Then on my surgery rotation, I found the perfect combination that made the path I had chosen that much brighter. I could deal with women and their needs while I used my artistic ability to do surgery and help heal them. I am a board certified ob-gyn physician who is one of four in a busy practice in Southern New Jersey. I have been blessed with two sons, two dogs and one cat. I love animals and would probably have a farm if I had the time.
I paint murals for friends and family. I was a biology and art major in college and found art to be a form of relaxation. It has also become a literary inspiration as you can discover in my next book, Dying to Deliver, a medical thriller. My knowledge of art helped me form my characters and story lines for this fictional book. When it comes to writing fiction, I took the advice of the great Steven King who said, “always write what you know.”
I always had a passion for reading and writing. This passion was fueled by my then 6th grade teacher and now dear friend who “saw something different in me.” She encouraged me to reach for that impossible dream. I first expressed my writing interest through research and care oriented papers published in my field. Early in my career I kept a journal of patient questions and scenarios that made me enjoy my field that much more. Around ten years ago, I compiled these into a question-and-answer book, hence, the birth of 9 Months To Go! I decided to put the material into a fun, easy-to-read book that was a light, informative and happy view of pregnancy and birth.
I thank you for being here and look forward to hearing from you. Please come again, anytime.
